Women, daughters, mums: our female artisans are all of this and more. On the occasion of Mother’s Day, we sat down with them to discuss all things motherhood and business.

How do you celebrate Mother’s Day with your mum? Do you have a special memory that you want to share?I have a beautiful relationship with my mum, a special connection that I’ve been able to build during the years, even if she’s naturally quite introverted. For Mother’s Day I love spending time together and treating her to special things. When I was a flight attendant (before meeting Giorgio and starting the Brunocenere adventure) I once organised a surprise trip to Budapest for her: seeing her enthusiasm in front of the chic breakfast buffet at the hotel was the best. Another special Mother’s Day gift was a customized Brunocenere wallet: she chose the leather, the color (a bright fuchsia!), and we also engraved her initials on it. It’s so satisfying to be able to make something unique for my mum with my (or Giorgio’s) hands.

What’s one of the most important things you inherited from your mum?A special thing my mum passed onto me it’s the care and attention for the house and the garden. I feel like this is a typical feature of the Italian mother: a special attachment to the home and to everything that gravitates around it. She taught me how to build a space that is pleasant, cozy, scented, full of plants and flowers. The magic lies in the simplest details, such as freshly washed sheets on the bed. This is a part of me now, but I definitely owe it to my parents.

You’re a mum running a business with her son. How do you manage this double relationship?Gianmarco was essential to build Ama Pure, I would have never thought to create a brand without him: I can take care of research and product, but I’m useless when it comes to branding and communication. I like to think of Ama Pure as the result of different know-hows running into the family: Gianmarco’s innovative spirit, my creativity, but also my mum’s style. Scarves and foulards were a must-have for her, she had to always have something around her neck or she would have felt naked. I took that heritage and made it reality.

How do you celebrate Mother’s Day with your daughter Ilaria? Do you have any rituals?Mother’s Day falls on the second Sunday of May and my daughter Ilaria was born on May 7th, so each year we like to group the two occasions together in one big family celebration. We get together with my mum, my niece and all the women of the family, organising a big lunch or a BBQ in the garden. When we can, we even try to go for a day trip (“scampagnata” as Italians say), to the lake, the seaside, the mountains. It’s always such a fun time!
