Giratine
In Tuscany, ‘giratine’ is the word to refer to long outdoor walks, often at times carefree and very relaxing. The story of Giratine began during the 1950s in Prato, a city in the heart of Tuscany that’s also home to the largest textile center in Europe. Angela rode her yellow bike everyday to get to Mrs. Piera's tailoring workshop in Via Garibaldi, where she eventually learned how to sew. A couple of decades later, Angela’s daughter—Monica—learned how to crochet from Aunt Nella, making a lovely green blanket for her favorite doll. The ‘90s saw the third generation, with Benedetta and her idea to show off her mother's and grandmother's creations to the world. Fast-forward to 2020 where Angela's expertise, Monica's skills, and Benedetta's creativity all joined together to give life to Giratine: a Made in Italy brand that offers handcrafted, one-of-a-kind bags. Classic designs, refined fabrics, and meticulous attention to detail define the brand. Their grandmothers always said that nothing should be thrown away when cooking, and the women apply that same logic to their bags. When cutting fabric, they always try to have as little waste as possible, and if a few pieces remain, they creatively find a new use for them.
