Bonfanti is a family-run company founded in 1945 by Ermogene and Annita Bonfanti. The brand began as a small artisanal workshop specializing in leather and canvas briefcases that could be easily attached to bicycles— a much-needed product choice for postwar workers. Over the years, production expanded to include women’s handbags and accessories, but the combination of leather and fabric remained the foundation of the brand. Located in the Olona Valley, an area of Lombardy with a strong textile vocation, Bonfanti is expert in working with Olona canvas, raw linen and coated fabrics— interesting materials that are not often found associated with leather. We find it particularly fascinating how the choice of materials determines the construction of the products themselves, in terms of structure and design.
