Woowe was founded in Vigevano, historical shoemaking centre in Lombardy, by Matteo Di Maggio and Emanuele Persendi, driven by their dream to create an ecological and sustainable footwear brand using wood as an alternative material. Established in 2019, the company is now managed by Matteo together with Barbara Bennato. Completely cruelty free and recyclable, Woowe’s collections include unique and inimitable shoes, just like the grains of wood.
Thanks to an innovative and unique micro-laser system, wooden sheets are transformed into an ecological leather-like material, which is soft, flexible, and resistant. Each sheet is characterized by a different pattern, following the veins of the tree trunk they come from, either maple, walnut, or cherry—this is what makes every single pair of shoes unique. Plus, for each panel used and every product bought, a tree is planted to give back to nature in a conscious way. Woowe combines the skills of master shoemakers with innovative and sustainable production processes and materials, creating original, 100% made-in-Italy shoes.
