Bag trends of 2021

What is trending at Mirta this year
(and any other year!)

At Mirta, we’re not so keen on seasonal collections and fleeting trends. We believe that something bought today needs to last for years as it is a memory, an investment to pass on to the next generations in the family, and a piece of a story to tell. Our artisans craft everything keeping this in mind. They hand make perfect memories and pieces of Italy, they don’t craft trending pieces or temporary work bags. For us, luxury is represented by the quality of the product and by the value that it brings to it. We follow our own fashion bag trends and we don’t have collections, but our products certainly do have style. A style that lasts for years despite the colors and fashion runways. With this in mind, we defined our own trends. So sit back and enjoy the read on what Mirta bags are in style for 2021.

Handbag color trends this year

To talk about what bags are in fashion now at Mirta, we first want to give you a view on our favorite colors.

  • The brown bag: the classic color when buying a leather bag. You can wear it anytime and with any outfit. Our pick of brown bags: Sara, Balletto, Lirica.
  • The red bag: for the bold woman who is not afraid to dare. Red is the one color to wear for spring or summer, to pop a color on office outfits or for night outs. Our pick of red bags: Cecile Big, Malala, Posillipo Gaiola, Nemo.
  • The green bag: the evergreen color for any season and year. It’s never not on trend, for years to come and more, a green bag can be worn night and day. Our pick of green bags: Coralyne Mini, Bustina, Maira, Oblo

Furry Bags

The latest Mirta must-haves for winter are furry bags: they are cozy, fluffy and our customers' favorites as they can be used as crossbody bags and top handle bags, versatile for all fashion bag trends for years to come. Our pick of furry bags: Aspen, Zermat, Iside.

Woven Bags

We’ve seen woven bags on magazines and fashion runways these past years, but the history of “intrecciato” (a.k.a “woven”) is as old as many other Italian traditions. In Tuscany, the art of weaving dates back to 1500, but today they are still perfectly functional as work bags or shoulder bags. Our pick of woven bags: Oblo, Esmeralda, Sole.

Bamboo Handle Bags

Just like weaving, the art of making bamboo handles is from the Tuscany region as well. It then became a staple (iconic element visible on all handbags’ trend lists). To wear as top handle bags or as crossbody if they come with a strap. Our pick of bamboo handle bags: Posillipo Gaiola, Posillipo Fortuna, Lucrezia.

Croc-embossed Bags

The new favorite fashion bags for ladies are the croc-embossed. These bags are always on style, so you can pick one that will always be on point with any outfit and at any age. The croc-embossed is the purchase of a lifetime, the one bag that will be stolen by the rest of your family. Our pick of croc-embossed bags and backpacks: Nilla, Xenia, Siria.
